The History of Poker Game
The history of poker is quite indistinct, which makes it interesting to explore. Many people believe that poker originated in Persia. Poker resembles the game Nas, which is famous in Persia and people are playing the game since many years. Historians believe that the Persian sailors introduced the game to the United States of America when they migrated to the country.
Initially, poker players played the game with 25 cards and there were five different suits. Today, the game has same set of rules, but the only difference is that they are more modified and polished. Now, you have many combinations in the game.
Poker word originated from the French word poque originally adopted from a German word pochen, which means to knock. In the late 1820s, people in New Orleans played this game with the deck of 20 cards. The players would bet the value using their hands. It is the oldest known form of the game and four players played it with 20 cards pack. There were no strict rules and no draw in the game. Players placed bets on a narrow range of various combinations for instance, one pair, triplets, two pair and full. The top hand consisted of four kings and aces, which were unbeatable.
The game had a touch of gambling, as the sailors practiced the gambling on the Mississippi boats. Later, the card deck expanded to 52 cards. After that, professionals introduced additional cards that players can use in the game. During the Civil war, the game gained its popularity and today it is famous by the name of Five-card Stud. Later, there were some variations in the game and professionals changed a few rules to make the game fun and easy to understand for all poker fanatics.
